At Creative Class Studio, each month we spotlight a celebrated contemporary artist to inspire young creators. This month, we’re introducing kids to Keith Haring who was famous for his instantly recognizable figures that look like they are always in motion—dancing, jumping, running, and celebrating life.
His bold black lines and vibrant colors bring energy to every piece. Look closely and you’ll see movement lines, radiating marks, and repeating shapes that make his characters feel alive.
Haring believed art should move people—literally and emotionally. His work was inspired by music, dance, and the rhythm of city life.
In this Creative Class Studio experience, kids will turn a basketball into a moving work of art. Starting with a real basketball canvas, kids can draw figures in action (jumping, dancing, playing), add motion lines to show energy and speed, use bold black outlines for that signature look, lastly fill with bright, high-contrast colors.
Design your basketball so it looks like it’s spinning, bouncing, and alive with energy—just like Haring’s art. A custom basketball bursting with movement and personality—inspired by one of the most iconic artists in the world. In Keith Haring’s world, everything moves.
Your job is to bring that movement to life.
